The Documentary Record

Organizational Outreach Record

This continuing registry records what happened when the Giles for Governor campaign sought access, assistance or a response from organizations and individuals presenting themselves as advocates for the people of Mississippi. Additional entries will be added as the documentary record develops.

Standards for every entry

  • Identify the person or organization, the request made and the relevant dates.
  • State the observable response status: published, pending, declined, removed, no response or express refusal.
  • Preserve screenshots, messages or correspondence when available.
  • Separate established facts from Jimmy Giles's conclusions and opinions.
  • Identify incompetence, neglect, coordination or suppression as a possibility or opinion unless evidence establishes it as fact.
  • Update an entry if the person or organization later responds or corrects the record.

What the post said

The submitted post identified Jimmy Giles as a Mississippi beekeeper and common man running as an independent candidate for governor in 2027. It stated that 1,000 signatures from registered Mississippi voters are required for ballot access, requested assistance and listed positions including Mississippi's historic state flag, restoration of the statewide initiative process, trial by jury, freedom of speech and government controlled by We the People.

Evidence captured September 13, 2026: Facebook displayed one pending post submitted approximately six days earlier.

Jimmy Giles's conclusion: A group calling itself “WE THE PEOPLE OF MISSISSIPPI” had nearly a week to permit publication of a direct appeal intended to place an independent candidate before the people. I regard its continued failure to act as an effective refusal to publish the post. Facebook may label the status “Pending.” In practical terms, the post has been suppressed through inaction.

What remains unknown

Why the administrators have left the post pending is unknown. It could reflect neglect, incompetence, disagreement with the campaign or deliberate suppression. At present, I have no evidence establishing their motive or showing that they acted at the direction of Clare Hester or anyone else.

What the visible post said

The complete submitted post stated: “My name is Jimmy Giles, and I am an independent candidate for Governor of Mississippi in 2027.” It then said: “I openly and unequivocally support Mississippi's historic 1894 state flag.” The post further stated that the flag is displayed throughout the campaign, encouraged Mississippians to display it at their homes, businesses, on their clothing and throughout the digital public square, and pledged that, if elected governor, Giles would continue to display and defend the historic flag and support giving Mississippi voters another statewide referendum. It concluded by explaining that the statement was provided so group members could evaluate his candidacy under the candidate criteria published in the group's description.

Evidence captured September 13, 2026: Facebook displayed one pending post submitted approximately six days earlier.

Jimmy Giles's conclusion: A group named “United Mississippians for the 1894 State Flag” had approximately six days to publish a statement from an independent candidate who openly and unequivocally supports that flag. I regard its continued failure to act as an effective refusal to publish the post. Facebook labeled the status “Pending.” In practical terms, the post was suppressed through inaction. After documenting the complete post and its pending status, I withdrew the unpublished submission and left the group on September 14, 2026.

What remains unknown

Why the administrators left the post pending is unknown. It could have reflected neglect, incompetence, disagreement with the campaign or deliberate suppression. At present, I have no evidence establishing their motive or showing that they acted at the direction of Clare Hester or anyone else.

What Facebook displayed

Facebook stated: “Your request to participate is pending approval.” It further explained that administrators review participants before they can interact with others and that the review remained pending.

Evidence captured September 13, 2026: membership displayed as joined, but participation remained subject to administrator approval.

Jimmy Giles's conclusion: A public group with approximately 16,900 members accepted my membership while withholding approval for me to participate. I regard that unresolved restriction as inconsistent with meaningful membership. I therefore decided to leave the group rather than remain a member who could not participate.

What remains unknown

How long the administrators ordinarily take to review participation requests, and why this request remained pending, are unknown. It could reflect administrative delay, neglect, incompetence, disagreement with the campaign or deliberate restriction. At present, I have no evidence establishing their motive or showing that they acted at the direction of Clare Hester or anyone else.

What is established

Contemporaneous reporting identifies Dan Carr as the founder of Let Mississippi Vote and states that the organization had a website and Facebook page. The same report identifies Chris McDaniel as a supporter of the campaign. Jimmy Giles states that he personally found the Facebook presence approximately one week before this entry, then contacted both Carr and McDaniel. It is now unavailable to him under its former name across all of his Facebook accounts.

Jimmy Giles's conclusion: The timing is deeply suspicious. I found Let Mississippi Vote, contacted Dan Carr and Chris McDaniel, and then could no longer locate the Facebook presence. I believe Carr and McDaniel are working together and are hostile to my independent campaign. I further believe the disappearance or restriction may have been intended to prevent me from contacting Let Mississippi Vote participants directly. These are my conclusions from the sequence of events; they have not yet been independently proven.

What remains unknown

It is not presently established whether the Facebook presence was deleted, unpublished, renamed, paused, made hidden or private, or restricted by Facebook or an administrator. There is presently no direct evidence establishing that Dan Carr, Chris McDaniel, Clare Hester or another identified person banned Giles, changed the page or group, directed or influenced such action, or acted for the purpose Giles suspects. This entry will be updated if an administrator or another person with direct knowledge explains what occurred, or if additional documentary evidence becomes available.

What the pending post said

The post identified Giles's November 2, 2000 appearance before the Mississippi State Flag Commission in Moorhead and described his three-minute, eighteen-second statement as a defense of Mississippi's historic 1894 state flag. It invited every Mississippian—supporter or opponent—to watch the entire speech, listen to every argument, consider every word and then identify a more powerful defense of the historic flag.

Evidence captured September 18, 2026: Facebook displayed one pending Giles for Governor post submitted three days earlier and two previously published posts.

Jimmy Giles's conclusion: For an organization presenting itself as a statewide political forum, this post was a simple litmus test: would it permit Mississippians to hear a declared candidate's defense of their historic state flag and decide for themselves? The post remained unapproved for three days without explanation. In my judgment, MISSISSIPPI 2026 failed that test and demonstrated that it was not the genuine statewide political forum it appeared to be. I therefore deleted all three of my posts and left the group.

What remains unknown

Why the administrators did not approve the flag-speech post is unknown. The record does not establish whether the post would eventually have been approved, whether the delay reflected neglect, workload, disagreement with the content or deliberate suppression, or whether any particular candidate or political interest influenced the decision. This entry will be updated if an administrator explains what occurred or additional documentary evidence becomes available.

What the pending post said

The post asked the group to “Let Mississippi vote—and let Mississippi voters have a choice.” It identified Giles as a Rankin County beekeeper and common man seeking to qualify as an independent candidate for Governor of Mississippi in 2027. It stated that political power belongs to the people rather than party establishments, legislative leaders or government insiders and introduced the fundamental rights on which his campaign stands.

Evidence captured September 24, 2026: Facebook displayed one pending Giles for Governor post submitted four days earlier.

Jimmy Giles's conclusion: A private group bearing Senator Chris McDaniel's name and displaying approximately 12,600 members admitted me but did not approve a straightforward introduction of my independent campaign after four days. I had established a three-day test for meaningful access. In my judgment, the group failed that test, and its inaction operated as an effective refusal to allow its members to consider my candidacy. I therefore deleted the pending post and left the group.

What remains unknown

Why the post remained pending is unknown. The record does not establish whether Senator Chris McDaniel personally administers the group, reviewed the post, knew it was pending or directed any action concerning it. The delay could reflect workload, neglect, disagreement with the campaign or deliberate suppression. This entry will be updated if an administrator explains what occurred or additional documentary evidence becomes available.

What the pending archival post said

The post announced that the first complete archival tape from the November 9, 2000 Gulf Coast public hearing of the Governor’s Advisory Commission on the Mississippi State Flag was available online. It credited Mississippi Public Broadcasting with preserving and providing the recording, linked directly to the complete video and stated: “History should not remain hidden on obsolete tapes or buried in government archives. It belongs to the people.”

The pending post announced public access to a complete archival recording of a 2000 State Flag Commission hearing.

Jimmy Giles's conclusion: I concluded that Delta Flaggers — PR and Discussion, like other Facebook groups ostensibly devoted to Mississippi’s historic state flag, was inactive, ineffective and unwilling to provide meaningful support for organized action. In my judgment, these groups offer neither a discernible strategy nor the determination required to restore political power to the people who support the historic flag.

My objective extends beyond preserving recordings or discussing history. My campaign seeks to organize the votes, participation and economic power of Mississippians who believe the 2001 statewide vote should be respected, support Mississippi’s historic 1894 State Flag and oppose the Legislature’s replacement of that flag without another statewide vote.

Mississippi does not have a legitimate state flag. It has what I call the “Scumbags’ Rag”—imposed by a Scumbags’ government that cast aside the people’s 2001 statewide vote and then denied Mississippians the opportunity to choose between the historic flag and its replacement. A government that overrides the people’s vote does not represent the people; it rules over them.
